S Performance Evaluation of MIMO and HARQ Techniques for LTE Uplink System

چکیده
In this paper, we carry out a performance evaluation of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) techniques for singlecarrier frequency division multiple access (SCFDMA) of the LTE uplink system. Different MIMO schemes such as singleantenna port (SISO or SIMO), transmit diversity (TD) and spatial multiplexing (SM) are described and simulated. In this paper, we propose an advanced soft combining method of HARQ transmissions which is called linear minimum square error soft combining (LMMSE-SC). In this method, the LMMSE equalizer operates jointly the spatial diversity provided by MIMO technique and the temporal diversity provided by the HARQ retransmissions. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the performance of HARQ with chase combining technique compared to the classical method of combination.

A novel multiband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is proposed. The MIMO antenna system consists of two antenna elements, each of which comprises of three radiators: a driven monopole, an S-shaped strip and an inverted F-shaped strip and occupies footprint of 15x18.5x0.8 mm3 only. The driven monopole acts as a quarter-wave monopole and stimulate higher mode resonance. The tw...

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is currently specifying the system requirements for Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A), having as a target peak data rates of 1 Gbit/s in local areas and 100 Mbit/s in wide areas. To meet these ambitious requirements for the uplink, multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna techniques are expected to be deployed. In this paper, several channel...

With exponential increase in the volumes of video traffic in cellular networks, there is an increasing need for optimizing the quality of video delivery. 4G networks (Long Term Evolution – Advanced or LTE-A) are being introduced in many countries worldwide, which allow a downlink speed of upto 1 Gbps and uplink of 100 Mbps over a single base station. In this paper, we characterize the performan...
